Why the name Landmark?

Our name "Landmark" reflects the mission of Christ's worldwide body. A landmark serves both as a reminder of things that have been,
and as a guide towards what lies ahead.

“14 I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, 15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.”
- 1 Timothy 3:14-15

Our Story:

Landmark Church was planted in 2020 by a team sent from River City Community Church in Selma, Texas. Landmark exists to be a community of redeemed people who put off self and put on Christ for God’s glory, our joy, and the world’s salvation.

OUR TEAM

OUR TEAM

Our team represents a group of people who have been transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and who seek to help others in the San Marcos and surrounding areas do the same.

Our Beliefs

  • God

We believe in One God, who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God is a spirit who is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth. This One God is eternally existent in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

  • Scriptures

We believe that the church's beliefs, practices, and policies must all be grounded in and informed by a historic, orthodox interpretation of God's Holy Scripture, which is contained in 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, and has been faithfully preserved and delivered to us by the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Creation and Providence

We believe all the world was made by God, and thus was very good. In all creation, we see God’s glory and His grace. Furthermore, God sustains and orders all things at all times to work towards His good and perfect purposes.

  • Humanity

We believe that God created humanity after His own image; in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness. God created us in order that we might forever enjoy and bring glory to Him. God created us male and female, distinct by design, equal in dignity, and perfect in complementarity.

  • Sin

We believe sin is failing to fully obey God. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. Through their disobedience, all mankind is fallen, broken, and under God's just wrath. Every person, because of their inherited and committed sin, is hopeless in themselves to have the good things God has designed for us.

  • Salvation

We believe God has, by grace alone, through the work of the Redeemer, the God-Man Jesus Christ, secured forgiveness of sin, redemption from the fall, life, and eternal joy for all who believe in Him. Furthermore, we believe that God has ordained to bring about the obedience of faith in a people of His own choosing, by the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Church

We believe the church is the Body and Bride of Christ, and that it has a God ordained form and function. The church exists to proclaim the Gospel of Christ in our world, and to be a community where all who have been united to Him by faith may grow up into the fullness of Him who is our all in all.

  • Christian Life

We believe the Christian life can be summarized in three words: faith, hope, and love. We must be a people who believe in Christ and are united to Him. We must be a people who hope for His return. We must be a people who love Him with all that we are, and in that, love our neighbors as ourselves.

  • New Creation

We believe that the fruit of the Gospel is new creation. First in the hearts and lives of those who are united with Christ by faith, and someday, in a literal, perfect, and physical remaking of all things. The body of Christ (and all its members) must reflect this new creation in their lives now, even as they await His final and full restoration.

  • Bodily Return of Christ

We believe that, soon, Christ is returning bodily to fully destroy the powers of sin, to glorify His church, and to make all things new. Once He has done this, from then unto forever, He will reign as our King.

  • Who Belongs at Landmark Church?

We believe the Gospel is good news of great joy for all people. We also believe that the Gospel is the message of Christ our King inheriting His Kingdom. Therefore, all who would surrender and seek life in this King are welcome to belong at Landmark Church!
